~ Welcome to P.E. with Ms. MacFarland ~
**Physical Education class provides a variety of opportunities for all elementary school children to develop physically, emotionally, intellectually, and socially. Throughout the year we will provide a positive and active environment to help develop and maintain a healthy and physically active lifestyle for each student.**
The second quarter has come to an end! We have learned a lot and have had a lot of fun so far this year. Grades K-5 completed a Gymnastics Unit where they were able to use equipment like the balance beam, rock wall, cheese mats, and springboard. They learned skills like forward and backwards rolls, vaults, dismounts, and different floor routine skills. All grades also competed in our Indoor Obstacle course. Students were working on their speed and agility to make it through the obstacle course. The top scores for each grade are posted on the wall outside of the gym! To finish off the second quarter, all grades completed a Rhythms and Dance unit. Grades 3-5 learned how to do a dance from the Philippines called Tinikling. Grades K-2 learned how to do a dance using a parachute. Finally, all
grades got to participate in a Dance Dance Revolution Disco! For the third quarter we have some great and exciting units planned. Units like Bowling, Duel, Cooperation Ball, and Mission Impossible. Also, we have some of our favorite units to look forward to throughout the rest of the school year, like The Great Outdoor Adventure and Field Day!
*Please help welcome our new part-time PE teacher, Mr. Kolnik to our Fulton PE staff. He will be teaching at our school on Mondays and Wednesdays. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays he will be teaching at Bollman Bridge Elementary School, which he has taught at for 5 years.
