Philosophy
The library media center is a specialized library. The role of the school library is to reflect the vision, philosophy, goals and objectives of the school in which it is a part. The school library supports the programs and curriculum in the school. It also supports the needs of the teachers to enrich the curriculum for the students, and to support the learning habits of the students.
A library media specialist is a team member who helps to make selection decisions along with other team members to support the interests and needs of the students. The media specialist is also the technology expert who is asked to make decisions on anything from troubleshooting a broken computer, to providing a safe environment for students to become efficient and effective researchers .
It is a rewarding field and requires an individual willing to assist others without being in the spotlight.
