Quarter 4 Project – Acids and Bases at Work – 100 pts – due 6/4 (4A) 6/5 (1, 3, 4B, 6)
You will choose your own groups. There may be 1-4 members per group. Choose your group based on the project type you want to do.
o Report – solo project
o Children’s Picture book – solo OR group project
Your group will choose one professions from the list of professions below to research. You must sign up with Ms. Bloedorn. First come, first served.
Your group will research the profession to answer the following questions:
o What are the day-to-day tasks of this profession?
o What are some unusual (once in a while) tasks that a member of this profession might have to tackle?
o How do members of this profession use acids, bases, and salts?
o List at least three compounds (acid, base, or salt) and the way it is used by this profession. This must include both a name and a formula. (Example: Sucrose – C12H22O11 [this is not an acid, base, OR salt])
o Safety precautions for acids and bases in general, and, if there are special precautions, specific ones for the acids and bases used in that profession.
o The pH scale – what it is, how to use it, etc.

- May work by yourself or in your in-class group (or part of your group)
- NOT a factual, dry, list – tell a story

- Proper formatting – LARGE text, only a few sentences per page, colorful and inviting for a child, at least 5 pages. At least one large illustration per page. (Illustrations may be hand-drawn, printed from the computer, cut out of magazines, etc.)
- Proper grammar and spelling
- At least four proper references (NOT Wikipedia) – use NoodleBib or similar to format
