I am so glad that you have decided to take Spanish this year.  You will have the
opportunity to learn the culture and the language of the Spanish-speaking world
through various in-class and out-of-class activities.  Please take advantage of this
website so that you can access all homework, quizzes, tests, and projects, as well
as cool websites that will link you to all things Spanish.  

**Dear Parents, Third quarter brings with it more difficult, but fun material.  It is my hope that all students will begin to see their hard work begin to pay off as they use their Spanish more and more.  In order to achieve this goal, it is important that students complete all homework assignments when they are given.  In the seventh grade, students still have one day to make up a missing assignment; however, in the eighth grade, no late work will be accepted during third or fourth quarter. You can expect to see homework every day except for Fridays.

Continue studying your new vocabulary by practicing with a friend or family member, quizzing yourself, writing the vocabulary out, using the vocabulary in sentences or drawing the vocabulary.  While we have not had any written homework, you are still responsible for the vocabulary.
Picture Book - Create a picture book using 8 of the vocabulary words we have learned this week.  You should have one picture on each page and no words on any of the pages.  Take a separate sheet of paper and write one sentence for each picture, but NOT IN THE ORDER OF THE PAGES IN THE BOOK.  For example, if you have a picture of potatoes on page one, your first sentence should not be about potatoes.  Quiz Friday on new food vocabulary and the Food Pyramid.
Write 5 sentences telling a friend what he should do to stay healthy and 3 sentences telling what he should not do to stay healthy.

Due Wednesday  (Only 1st and 2nd periods)  5th Period: Flashcards for new vocabulary due tomorrow, practice your new vocabulary with a parent or a sibling for at least five minutes once you have made your flashcards.  Be prepared to identify the items in class tomorrow.

Picture Book: Make a small picture book with 8 pages by folding your paper hot dog style and then in half again.  Cut the tops of the paper so that you have 8 sheets, including both covers.  On each page of the booklet, place one picture of one of your vocabulary words (el almuerzo).  Each page SHOULD ONLY HAVE A PICTURE.  Number each page of your book.  On a separate sheet of paper, write a sentence for each of your pictures (Modelo: Me gusta comer un sándwich de jamón en el almuerzo).  Use a VARIETY of sentences.  Do not put your sentences in order.  Next to each sentence, leave a space for another student to place the page number of where to find the picture that corresponds to the sentence.  Here is an example that you may print out or use:

Continue studying shopping words and phrases
Create a brochure advertising three signature outfits for a clothing store.  Make sure that when you open the brochure it has three panels.  On the front panel, include the name of the store.  Inside choose one signature outfit for three of the following groups of people, placing one outfit on each page: Damas, Caballeros, Jóvenes, Niños.  Each outfit should contain at least four articles of clothing.  Underneath each outfit, describe the articles of clothing (colors and sizes) and give the price in pesos.  This will serve as the rough draft of a larger project we will be doing later this week.
