Awesome Web 2.0 Tools These are some of the best tools we've found to help with remembering school work, studying, presentations, and group projects. Not all resources work on school computers, so make sure you check them first. Also, any accounts you create on these sites are for your own use and responsibility. They are in no way affiliated with RHS or HCPSS, and we cannot guarantee or manage their use.

Doing Research - DELICIOUS.COM allows you to get to your bookmarks on any computer with Internet access--no more losing your bookmarks at school or leaving them at home! Search other people's bookmarks for information you need, too. |
Doing Research/Creating a Works Cited List - ZOTERO If you need a slicker, easier alternative to Noodletools and do much of your research on the Web, this tool is for you. ZOTERO provides a Web site as well as Firefox, MS Word, and Open Office extensions. |
Doing Research/Creating a Works Cited List - iBREADCRUMBS This tool will keep a list of every site you visited and allow you to go back to them. It also allows you to add notes, etc,--a great way to keep track of your research process and sources. It's a little like Zotero and a little like Trailfire. |
Doing Research/Sharing Information - TRAILFIRE allows you to make comments on Web pages and to link from one to another directly in a "trail". You could use this to design a Webquest for a class project, and teachers could use this for Webquests, too. Search for other people's trails to find information on a topic you are researching. |
Doing Research - Ever bookmark a bunch of sites and forget why? MYSTICKIES allows you to put "sticky notes" on sites, color code them, and keep track why sites are useful--OR NOT. |
Doing Research - Like the idea of MYSTICKIES but don't like that particular tool? JJOT is similar but might be more your style. |
Gathering and Organizing Information - EVERNOTE allows you to upload files, clip Web sites, send emails, take notes, and tag all of this information into one Web site. When you log in, you'll have all the info you've been keeping track of together and ready for use. You can use it with the iPhone, too. |
Organizing Ideas - Like Inspiration but don't have it at home? BUBBL.US allows you to make Webs online. You can print them, too. |
Studying - Use QUIZLET to make flash cards, practice tests, and games to study. Link to your friends' study sets and share yours with them! Improve your memory of terms for tests in no time! |
Writing, Entering Data, Making Presentations - Use ThinkFree to get all the tools of Office without the Microsoft. And, it's all save online! (Did I mention it's free?) |
Writing, Entering Data, Making Presentations, Emailing, Calendaring, RSS Feed Reading, Photo Editing, Collaborating, and on and on... - If you already have a Gmail account (or even if you don't), GOOGLEDOCS is definitely worth checking out. It is just one small feature of a Google Account. |
Collaborating on Documents- ZOHO WRITER has many of the same features as ThinkFree and GoogleDocs. Just another option. |
Posting Presentations - Is your PowerPoint too good to miss? Do you want to share it with other students. Do you need to get a PowerPoint from someone for a class you missed? Ask to share it on SLIDESHARE. Teachers could also post here. |
Posting Presentations - Like SLIDESHARE, SPRESENT is another tool for sharing presentations. This is also a nice option if you'll have to show your presentation in a number of places or if you don't have a compatible program at home. |
Creating Movies and other fun Presentations - Looking for a fun, creative way to complete a class project? Try VOICETHREAD. (But remember, many multimedia projects require additional equipment. Always plan ahead.) |
