 Welcome to Second Grade with Mrs. Plotkin!
Language Arts We are working hard in Reading and Writing. The students will be reading nonfiction books and fiction books. We will have monthly Author Studies. Some of our favorites are Gail Gibbons, Jan Brett and Kevin Henkes. In writing, we will focus on responding to text questions, writing a friendly letter, non-fiction reports and poetry.
Please ask your child what they are writing about in school.
Math 
We are covering all second grade objectives. Math homework begins the week of October 3rd and will be assigned Tuesday and Thursday nights. Check out the SMART link for fun math activites. A great way to review and practice skills is on First in Math. If you lose you child's passcode, just drop me an email.
Content 
We are studying our community and how to keep it working. Each quarter we will have about 4 weeks of Social Studies and Science. On Wednesdays, we concentrate on a Health topic
