Reading
Please read 22 days out of the month for 10 minutes each day. Please record the book read and initial on the calendar in the homework journal. Recording the book and initialing will ensure your child will get a Book–It coupon for a free pizza. You or your child can record the book read.
Spelling
In the spelling journal, your child will have written the spelling words for the week.
Monday: List 3 more words that fit the pattern on the
right side of the journal. Please sign beside the “M” to show your child completed this.
Tuesday: At school, two new words will be added to the spelling
list using the words your child found on Monday night! A
sight word will also be added that does not fit the pattern.
For homework, complete a hands-on activity. A list of suggested hands-on activity is on the back page of the spelling journal. Please sign by the “T” to show your child completed this activity.
Wednesday: Write 3 sentences using the spelling words.
Please sign by the “W” to show your child completed this.
Thursday: Study for the spelling test. (i.e. Do a practice
test) Please sign by the “Th” to show your child
completed this activity.
Writing
Below you will see an example of a list and a web. Please be assured that we have also practiced this in class so your child is familiar with the procedure. Please use the format below to assist your child in properly completing their homework. This should be a fairly easy process for your child and an easy addition to their current homework load.
