Welcome to the Media Center
Welcome to the class of 2016

Glad to have you at The Lake!  Take a look and learn what the Media Center can do for you.  Want to learn more about everything here?  Always check in at www.wildelake.com - the center for news and information about everything in the bulding.

Remember - we are open before and after school.  Stop in.

During the school day you will need a pass in your agenda book to sign into the Media Center.  No passes on paper are accepted.  If a teacher has reserved the Media Center for their class, there may not be a computer available - teacher groups have priority over passes.

Want to stop in during lunch?  See the Media Secretary, Ms. Collins before the beginning of Pd 3 and get a lunch pass from us. No lunch passes are issued after the bell rings for Period 3.  Eat first and then come on up.  Just a reminder - any class that has reserved the Media Center computers has priority over students with passes.  We cannot always guarantee computer access on your lunch pass time.  Remember - we've got books, too, so ask for help in finding books that will help you with your research.

New usernames and passwords for the computer network for ALL students in the building will be issued sometime this week.  Keep track of your username and password.  Never share this with another student.

Explore wildelake.com throughly - this is where you will find links from the Media Center and your teachers. Click on the Academic tab to go to our Media Resources page to check out our online book catalog.   Need a database? Go to the page labeled Research Databases - remember, at home use passwords for our databases are in your agenda book.  The next page, Internet Curriculum Links has links to the databases plus other extremely useful websites.  Scroll down the page and start exploring.  This particular page was developed by the county media department.

If you don't already have one, get a library card NOW from the Howard County Public Library.  Keep the card with you in school, so you can access all the extra databases and eBooks that the public library has for everyone.  Remember - you can access great tutoring websites with your public library card number.  Take advantage of this now.
