I am originally from Long Island, New York and have lived in Maryland since 1981. My undergraduate degree is in Communications Disorders (Speech and Hearing disorders). My Master's degree is in Early Childhood Education from George Washington University. I began my teaching career in 1983 as a Special Education Resource Room Teacher in Prince George's County Public Schools. I moved to Howard County Public Schools as a Special Education Classroom Teacher in 1999, and taught at Deep Run Elementary School for 3 years. Then I transferred to Elkridge Elementary and have had the pleasure of teaching here for the past 5 years! I taught in third grade my first year, and in second grade the last four years. This year I will be teaching students with special needs in Kindergarten and First Grade.
I am the mom of two wonderful children. Jennie, 16, and Matt, 13. My husband Jeff (also wonderful!) and I have recently celebrated our 20th anniversary, which we celebrated this past July in Paris and Normandy, France. We spend a lot of time in New York City. We love to visit family there and see lots of Broadway shows. We also have family in Florida.
Although I teach part-time I am busy with lots of other activities (besides being a taxi driver!). I am the coordinator of a book club for adults, coordinator of a neighborhood Bunco group, and am the co-president of the Atholton High School Drama Boosters. (My daughter is quite involved in musical theater!)
I look forward to meeting the Kindergarten and First grade parents at Back to School Night. I wish everyone a wonderful school year!
