3rd & 4th graders - We are working on functional calendar, reading,  and spoken and written language skills everyday. We also continue to work on mini-skills everyday.

This week I will be returning to the study of the Earth, with the focus being on different forces which have made our Earth look the way it does. I always try to help the children understand the concepts in relation to their lives i.e. " ______ skis in the mountains or the lighthouse was on an island."  If you can provide me with any personal experience your child has had that relates to our books, just let me know. Also, feel free to improvise with the books. Add information, discuss the pictures, recall a family trip, etc.

In this unit we will also continue to expand our knowledge of weather and we wil begin learning about heat, light & sound.

Next week we will begin a Maryland unit. I will focus on their address, community, city and state. We will integrate what we have learned in map skills and geography. We will also talk about past and present.

These topics are covering Social Studies & Science topics.
