8th Grade General Music
Materials:
All students must come to class prepared. This requires the following:
v Pen/Pencil
v Paper
v Section in their binder for music
Grading Policy:
Grades will be based on a point system. Students will earn points for
classwork, homework, projects, quizzes, and tests. Students will receive
a list of all graded components and their values on the first day of
class. Assignments not turned in will equal a zero. Points will be
deducted for late assignments.
Expected Student Behaviors:

v Attend school regularly, on time, and prepared to learn
v Complete all assignments on time

Consequences:
v Student-teacher conference
v Detention
v Phone call home
v Administrative referral
Make-Up Work:
v It is the student’s responsibility to find out what work was missed due
to an absence. Mrs. Brisco is available to assist with make-up work
before school and after school until 3:15. Students wishing to complete
work at either of these times should see Mrs. Brisco to arrange a time and
day.
Units of Study:
v Popular Music – Students will learn about Popular Music from the 1950’s
through present day. The final project for this unit will be a research
paper and oral presentation.
v Guitar – Students will perform songs from the 1950s to the present using
chords and note reading techniques.
