Concert Chorus!
Students in the 7th and 8th grades may choose to sign up for Concert Chorus, which
meets every day during period 5. This is a performing group that performs at a high
level, although no audition is required. Attendance is required at the Winter and
Spring Concerts, which are evening performances. There is also a required school day
field trip to the Choral Adjudication in the Spring. We will perform at the
"Night of the Arts," event which is usually held in January, in the
evening. We also attend the "Music in the Parks" competition, where we won
first place last year! This is not a required concert, although it is alot of fun
and everyone is encouraged to attend. Parents and siblings may also attend. There is
a fee for everyone who attends! It will be held in on May 22nd this year, which is
a Saturday. The students will perform in the morning and then change into
comfortable clothes and play at the park all day long (with lots of parental
supervision). Then we will assemble for the awards ceremony in the afternoon to see
who is announced as the winner! All of the information concerning the various events will
be gone over very carefully!
General Music:
Any student in grades 6, 7 and 8 may sign up for general music. In this class
students meet every day, for one quarter of the year. The concentration is on
learning to read music and how to play various instruments such as the keyboard and
the guitar. There is also some instruction in composition. The music becomes more
challenging with each successive year! We also play guitar hero in this class
beginning about half way through the quarter!
6th grade chorus class:
This class is open only to 6hth graders who would like to learn how to sing. There
are no auditions and no required performances in this class. You only have to enjoy
singing! This class meets during the 3rd quarter only.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Piluk!
